One of the most famous temples that one can see near Kolkata, on its east bank is the
Dakshineswar Kali Temple. This is a goddess Kali temple built in 1855 by Rani Rashmoni.
Belur Math is the Headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, founded by Swami
Vivekananda in1938.Its architecture is fusion of Christian, Islamic, Hindu and Buddhist
art motifs; in a way it "celebrates the diversity of Indian religions".
