Ganga River is sacred and the land was fertile and flourishing, which brought more humans to
this land; many through the waterways. This resulted in the mushrooming of temples on the
river banks. The location closer to the bank also facilitated performing of various ceremonies
using the sacred water of the Ganges. As people of different faith and religion started coming,
the banks turned into secular sacred prayer sites.
