One can find fishermen in these boats, or people transporting goods and it is often used for
ferrying people from one bank to another. At regular intervals on the river bank, steps or
makeshift jetties can be sighted. An intrinsic part of Bengal River banks is its use for bathing,
washing clothes and utensils and at times used as place for sun bathing and picnic.
