Another view that cannot escape attention are the disused / damaged old barges, boats and
tugs on the banks. Some of them may be recently discarded and some can date back to the pre
- independence era. This steamer and tug grounded on the bank, perhaps many decades ago,
are reminiscent of the active and vibrant industrial life in these parts of Kolkata.
