               He  never remarried. In fact I never knew if he  and my
            Grandmother had ever been divorced!  I think perhaps not.
               I do remember Grandfather giving me a cricket ball on one
            visit in the 1950’s.
               Australia had been touring in England for an “Ashes” series.
               “The”   series   captained   by   Len   Hutton   where   England
            eventually won to huge celebration. This was the very first time
            people had been known to run onto the pitch as the players left.
               Australia had also played Yorkshire and Grandfather had
            been one of the umpires. The ball he gave me had been used in
            that match!
               On his death in 1960 he left his entire not unsubstantial
            estate half to my mother and half to be divided between my
            sister and myself.
