3. Apply the handbrake and engage the P.T.O.; select ‘Stabilisers Down’. Use Stabiliser
Mats at all times.
4. Stand a safe distance away from the lifting arms, in a
position that all functions can be clearly observed.
Select ‘Tip Hooks Down’ on the control lever.
5. Select ‘Arms Lower’ (use ‘Fast Lower’ only with empty
containers or when there is no container).
6. Isolate the remote whilst detaching or stowing the lifting
chains
7. Select ‘Arms Raise’ until arms are fully closed.
8. Disengage the P.T.O.
9. NOTE: Transportation of stacked empty skips should be subject to a load securing
assessment. Empty skips stacked 3 high or more will be regarded by D.V.S.A. as
a greater risk, if they are determined to be unsuitably stacked or not properly
secured.
Sheeting the load
Skip loaders have auto-sheet systems fitted as
standard; this is operated via the remote control.
If the sheeting system becomes jammed or
ceases to function, contact the Workshop
Manager who will arrange a technician to attend
your location.
NOTE: In exceptional circumstances (e.g. if a repair to the auto-sheeter cannot be effected
on site), it will be necessary to manually sheet the skip:
Sheeting must be carried out at ground level
Replace the skip safely on the ground
Retrieve the sheet from the vehicle bed.
Lay the sheet across the width of the skip, then roll it out along the length of the skip.
Reattach the chains and lift the skip back on the vehicle bed.
Pull the securing ‘bungy’ cables down (using a reach pole, if required) and attached
them to the securing hooks.
Ensure the load is secure, before leaving site.
When moving containers carrying material or waste, the load MUST be sheeted at all times.
The auto-sheeter MUST be used to sheet the load – manual sheeting is not permitted
(except in specific circumstances - above).
