Lifting the container
1. Check that the rear door(s) of the container
are securely closed. Reverse the vehicle up
to the container, to approximately 2 metres
from the hook bar; ensure no other persons
or vehicles are in the vicinity.
2. Check for overhead obstructions.
3. Remember that the container tilts
backwards before it moves forward, so be aware of any obstructions to the rear.
4. Apply the parking brake; engage the P.T.O. set the engine to no more than 1500
r.p.m.
5. Ensure vehicle’s container locks are disengaged.
6. Lower the main lifting arm, so the hook is at the same height
as the hook bar on the container.
7. Release the handbrake and slowly reverse the vehicle to
enable the hook to be engaged to the hook bar; ensure it is
fully engaged.
8. Lift the container and draw it onto the back of vehicle, by
operating the main lifting arm; ensure that the container frame
runners are correctly located on the rear rollers of the vehicle.
9. During the lifting operation, ensure that the vehicle is either allowed to roll back under
the container, or the container itself is allowed to roll over the ground towards the
vehicle. This will depend on the ground conditions and the weight of the container.
