9.25.1 Tippers and grabs

There is growing evidence of the D.V.S.A and the Police stopping vehicles whose
drivers, despite having a sheeting system fitted to the vehicle, are not using it and
are driving on the public highway with their loads not covered. We had a driver
recently issued with a £100.00 fixed penalty ticket for failing to have their load
covered.
Enforcement Officers are referring to the “Categorisation of Defects” manual under
IM19 – Security of Load.

Aside from a fixed penalty being issued, the driver runs the risk of having an
immediate PG9 prohibition placed against the vehicle as shown.
