ABS Warning Light; Check Operation
Hand Brake/Foot Brake/Steering System; Check operation of controls and effectiveness
of systems
Speed limiter label; Check that a speed limiter label is displayed and legible
Operator’s license and MOT Plating Certificate; Check that valid license and discs are
displayed
Reversing Camera, Reversing and Left Turn Audible Warning; Check operation
Height Indicator; Check that the height indicator is fitted and set to the correct height.
Trailer Landing Legs; Ensure that these are adjusted and working correctly
Tyre and wheel checks
These procedures apply to all commercial vehicles operated by the AMS Ltd and must be
rigorously adhered to.
Routine Checks
Before commencing driving at the start of each day, drivers must complete a visual check
to cover the following:-
Tyres
Check all tyres are inflated and not damaged.
Tyres must have a minimum of 2 mm of tread.
No objects are jammed between rear wheels.
If you cannot see the bottom of the tyre please move the vehicle
forward so that you are able to check the full circumference.
Driver must also visually check the following:
Wheel Nuts
Rust streaks.
Missing wheel nuts or misaligned flags.
Signs of fretting between wheel nuts and wheel rim.
Wheel studs
Broken or missing wheel studs.
Wheels
Check for cracks.
These checks are on components that are normally visible to a driver and do not include
items that would need dismantling for examination.
When the checks have been completed Pre Drive can be signed.
