Operation of a Dumper
1. Always look around and confirm location of bystanders before
moving the machine.
2. Use mirrors and reversing camera at all times.
3. Do not make contact with overhead electric wires or buildings.
4. When driving over rough terrain reduce engine speed and select a slow travel
speed. Never with the body raised.
5. Beware of pinch points when driving an articulated
vehicle.
6. Make sure the worksite has sufficient strength to firmly
support the machine.
7. The operator must ensure that the site speed limit is
adhered to at all times.
8. When reversing the camera system should not be solely
relied upon. Always check and use the mirrors and if in
doubt, stop and physically check your route before proceeding.
9. When working on ramps and haul roads ensure that there
is adequate bunding and edge protection. The ramp and
haul roads should have at least a bund of 1.5 times the
height of the wheel along the edges. If not then please
speak to your manager.
10. Ensure that you have adequate bunding at the tip face. Do
not reverse up to a sheer drop and tip always leave at least
5m from the tip face and again this should be protected
with adequate bunding to prevent your machine from
rolling over the edge.
11. Ensure that the tipping body is level and straight with the
cab before tipping to avoid the cab rolling over.
12. Never travel with the body in the raised position the body
should be fully lowered immediately after tipping has taken
place.
13. When being loaded. position your machine so the loading vehicle does not have to load over
your cab
14. Handle fuel with care as highly flammable.
15. Do not refuel the machine whilst smoking or when near open flame or sparks.
16. Always stop apply the handbrake and turn off the machine before refuelling.
17. It is company policy when purchasing or hiring new machines that they are supplied with air
conditioning. This enables operatives to work in a dust free environment. The correct
procedure for operating air conditioning is that you close all doors and windows and set the
air conditioning to a comfortable temperature. It is pointless having the air conditioning on
with the doors and/or windows open. This defeats the object of a dust free environment.
Please use the air conditioning in the proper manner for your own welfare.
