Worker Consultation
Workers at TJ will be consulted and engaged regularly regarding health
and safety arrangements for the work they undertake as their support
to the company’s policies and procedures is vital.
Safety representatives and workers can contribute positively in achieving the desired outcomes
by:
Identifying problems
Indicating whether activities can be carried out safely
Help TJ develop sound practical ideas and solutions to further health and safety.
The company representatives meet quarterly to discuss H&S issues, if you want to get
involved or have any comments on how to improve your working environment then
please speak to your manager who can take your ideas forward for consideration.
Minutes of the meetings are displayed on the staff noticeboards.
Fitness and Health
Staying fit and healthy is important to maintain a good quality of life as well as ensuring that you are fit
to drive and can carry out your job safely. If you have any health conditions that affect your driving you
must advise your employer and inform the DVLA immediately. Failure to do so may lead to your license
being revoked by the Traffic Commissioner.
Schedule set times for food, avoid snacking
Schedule in a daily exercise plan during your breaks
Opt for healthier food options and consider portion sizes
If you need to snack, we all do sometimes! Try and make them healthy choices such as fruit
and nuts.
Drink plenty of water and keep some with you in the cab
Wash your hands before eating or drinking
Get plenty of rest when you are not work
Remember that you need to eat fruit and veg
Keep your mind active, audio books can be a great way of learning a new skill
Stay connected with family at break times and share your experiences
Some sites may require a fitness to work certificate
Please only eat and drink in the staff welfare areas and not whilst you are driving,
operating plant and machinery or working.
