28.1 Refuelling Mobile Plant

Note: All mobile plant is refuelled from nurse
tanks or a main fuel tank on site via an electric
pump.

• Operators are instructed on how to fill
machines correctly. 360 excavators can fill
themselves up using their own pumps if fitted.

• The correct PPE should be worn when handling fuel and hoses. I.e. Nitrile Gloves and
Safety Glasses

• When accessing the fuel tanks 3 points of contact MUST be used to gain access.

• No smoking while filling machines or plant and no naked lights to minimise the risk of
fire.

• All spillages are contained using spill kits and are reported to the Site
Manager as soon as possible to avoid any environmental issue.

• Never leave the piece of equipment that is being refuelled unattended for any reason. If
you need to leave the area then please stop and secure the fuel tank and nozzle before
leaving.

If all the above controls are followed then the risk of injury to persons has been brought
down to as low as is reasonably practical.
