                 ✓  If overhead power lines are present then an exclusion area near the cables must be
                     maintained, and a Banksman must be employed
                  ✓  Always ensure that the equipment cannot be run
                     into by other plant when in use - create an effective
                     barrier around the operating area
                  ✓  Never  use  the  handrail  as  a  step,  or  straddle
                     outside the basket
                  ✓  The rams operating the platform must not allow the
                     basket to drop or slew if a hydraulic leak occurs.
                  ✓  The platform must have been examined within the
                     last six months under LOLER regulations.

               NOTE: When operating the MEWP, this Safe System
               of Work must be followed;


               1.  Only trained and authorised persons who hold a current IPAF can operate the MEWP.
                   Authorised staff issued with an IPAF card and log book, must ensure they are completed
                   each time the MEWP is operated.

               2.  All operators must read the operators manual and familiarise themselves with the controls.

               3.  The  operator  must  carry  out  the  routine  checks  and  safety  checks,  including  the
                   Emergency Stop buttons.
               4.  The operator should ensure there is enough fuel in the tank before commencing work.

               5.  If working outdoors, check the weather. If it is too windy do not use the machine. Refer to
                   the manual or the safety signs about wind speed.

               6.  The operator must ensure that the area in which the machine is to be used is clear and
                   level.

               7.  Check the safe working load of the basket. Remember this weight  includes tools and
                   equipment.
               8.  When travelling on site, ensure your view is not obstructed. If it is, raise the basket to
                   ensure all round visibility.

               9.  Always ensure that the machine is coned off in a safe zone, allowing for the length of the
                   boom when lowered.

               10. When raising the basket, operators must be aware of the following hazards;

                   ➢  Overhead power cables
                   ➢  Overhead structures

                   ➢  Obstacles at ground level

                   ➢  Vehicles and plant passing by

                   ➢  Collision with boom and buildings
