PLTW Principles of Engineering CTE CP Pending
Fine Art, Engineering
LHS, THS 10-12 10 * N
Lang, CTE Concentrator
Offered At Grades Credits College Credit Pre/Co-Req AP/H Grad Req A-G Repeatable CTE Pathway
Students in Principles of Engineering explore a broad range of engineering topics, including mechanisms, energy and power,
materials and structures, automation, statistics, and kinematics. Students investigate thermal energy and alternative energy
applications and explore solar hydrogen systems. They use analysis of beam deflection as a context for learning about material
properties and calculating the internal and external forces on an object. Students learn to control mechanical systems by
investigating computer inputs and outputs and understanding hydraulic and pneumatic fluid power. Students design a projectile
motion device to use as a basis for data collection, organization, and interpretation of results.
Woodworking 1 CTE 553100
Fine Art, Woodworking
LHS 9-12 10 N
Lang, CTE Introduction
Offered At Grades Credits College Credit Pre/Co-Req AP/H Grad Req A-G Repeatable CTE Pathway
An introductory course in the use of both hand and power tool construction. Emphasis is placed on safe use of power equipment and
appropriate use of hand tools. The course covers wood joints, fastening methods, sanding and finishing. Students should avoid late
enrollment as safety instruction and demonstrations begin in the first week.
Woodworking 3 CTE 553180
Fine Art, Woodworking
LHS 10-12 10 Y
Lang, CTE Capstone
Offered At Grades Credits College Credit Pre/Co-Req AP/H Grad Req A-G Repeatable CTE Pathway
Emphasis is placed on students acquiring a higher degree of skill and craftsmanship. Dependability, safety, good work habits, and
shop maintenance are stressed. Students are required to complete projects of their own design using advanced techniques.
Leadership
Most leadership courses have a minimum GPA requirement. See your school site for details.
APPLE Class Tutor (APPLE Academy Students only) 839740
LHS 12 10 Elective N
Offered At Grades Credits College Credit Pre/Co-Req AP/H Grad Req A-G Repeatable CTE Pathway
This is a senior APPLE course that provides students with real experience working in a classroom setting assisting students (the class
is the “one period” option available in place of ROP’s “Careers in Education.”) Students are monitored by a classroom teacher and
supervised by an Academy coordinator. Students rotate in various settings to gain experience in Special Education, ELD and
mainstream classes. Placement is available both on and off campus.
AVID Tutor 219700
BCHS,LHS, 11-12 10 Elective Y
MHS,THS
Offered At Grades Credits College Credit Pre/Co-Req AP/H Grad Req A-G Repeatable CTE Pathway
Students perform various tasks as assigned by the instructor and work with individual students on a one-to-one basis or with small
groups of students. Students assist the instructor during lab activities carried out by the class. AVID Peer tutors receive training and
support from the AVID teachers and work as a partner with the teacher in the classroom.
