Shipping to a Distribution Center vs. Individual Stores
When you land a large account that has hundreds of stores, you
will find two shipping options:
1. You ship to their distribution center and then they ship to
their individual locations (this is the best).
2 . You ship directly to each store.
If you ship to each store rather than the central distribution cen
ter, it costs more for shipping, of course, and for labor and time as
well. This is where your wholesale license comes in handy-you'll
need to buy a lot of shipping supplies. It is so much easier to ship to
one central distribution center, but unfortunately you don't have a
choice. Be sure you are 100 percent clear on the directions the store
gives you before shipping anything out.
The G olden Rules of Customer Ser vice
High-quality and attentive customer service goes a long way to ensur
ing long-term, meaningful business relationships with your accounts,
both big and small. Customer service is the way you treat your cus
tomers-how you handle their inquiries, their complaints, and
their orders. A customer that is always right is always a customer.
Treat Your Clients with Respect
As you probably know from personal experience, companies
don't always treat customers with respect. Be better than that. Go
out of your way to be accommodating, friendly, and efficient by
doing the following:
• Provide a quality product.
• Be friendly. Even if you're having a rough day, take a deep breath
and put on a happy face for your customers.
