Homemade	Japanese-style	Panko	Breadcrumbs

	
Ingredients	and	Prep:
1	tablespoon	of	chili	powder.
2	tablespoon	of	freshly-ground	black	pepper.
2	tablespoons	of	dried	thyme.
2	tablespoons	of	dried	basil.
3	cups	of	ground-up	saltine	crackers	or	oyster	crackers.
	
	
Cooking	Directions:
Preheat	the	oven	to	325	degrees	F.
Place	the	crackers	in	a	plastic	bag.
Crush	them	with	a	rolling	pin	until	they	look	like	coarse	crumbs.
Add	the	dried	thyme,	basil,	chili	powder	and	freshly	ground	black	pepper

  Shake	the	bag	until	the	herbs	and	cracker	crumbs	are	thoroughly
  mixed.
Spread	the	mixture	on	a	baking	sheet	and	bake	it	for	6	to	8	minutes.
During	the	baking	process,	shake	the	pan	occasionally	in	order	to	turn
  over	the	breadcrumbs.	Bake	the	breadcrumbs	until	they're	dry.
Remove	them	from	the	oven	before	they're	browned	or	toasted.
Allow	the	breadcrumbs	to	cool	completely.

	
	

Serving	Instructions,	Tips	&	Variations:	Store	the	cooled	panko
breadcrumbs	in	a	sealed	bag	or	a	tightly-sealed	container.
Freeze	extra	panko	breadcrumbs	in	a	tightly-sealed	container	or	bag.
They	will	keep	for	several	months.
