3. METHOD OF ADVANCING BOREHOLE
• A borehole is a vertical hole advanced into the ground to determine the
depths, layers, zones, types, and thicknesses of the geomaterials (soil
and rock).
• The quality of information obtained from various methods of advancing
the boreholes are varies with the character of the subsurface geologic
conditions.
• The methods specified in the current specification:
• Rotary boring
• Rotary wash boring
• Auger boring
• It may be necessary to use more than one method in advancing a
particular borehole.
