In this resent study, the classical model was employed because it is in line
with the purpose of a writing goal, i..e. to persuade or convince the readers.
Shortly, an argumentative essay is a form of writing where the author
articulates their stance by presenting logical justifications and
corroborating evidence. The purpose is to convey the author's stance on the
topic at hand (Derewianka & Jones, 2016; Oshima & Hogue, 2000).
3) The Generic Structure of Argumentative Writing
In argumentative essays, writers not only give reasons to support
their arguments but also discuss other people's views and then rebut by
pointing out the fact that the opinion is unwarranted (Oshima &Hogue,
2007). There are several ways of framing an argument, for example, by
explaining reasons and evidence or presenting reasonable comparisons
(Reinking & von der Osten, 2018). This proves that the writer can discuss
issues from various points of view. By and large, before discussing, the
writer must have clarity about the topic to be argued. In short, the
argumentative essay is a type of writing where students must research a
