The essential objective was not to create a competition or ranking, but to give students
and the public a chance to see the Sloughi in real life, and recognize its morphology.
The organization of the presentation was entrusted to the staff of the Association Canine
Algérienne (ACA) for their experience in organizing this kind of event. The program was
followed to the letter, and at the end of the presentation, all participants received a
certificate of participation and medals for encouragement (image 6).
Unfortunately, several breeders from the Tlemcen region were not present at the show.
Seven Sloughis took part, distributed as follows:
Four males from four prefectures: A8 from Tlemcen, Djenah from Sidi Bel Abbes, Chahine
from M'sila, Sahm from Laghouat.
And three females: Richa from Sidi Bel Abbes, Wiza from Tlemcen, Arracha from Djelfa.
The youngest are the two males from Msila and Laghouat who are 2 years old. The oldest
is Richa, 9 years old.
The aim of the show was perfectly achieved, with the public eager to visit the Sloughi
stand, chat with breeders and talk about the breed.
The heads of the associations also took the opportunity to listen and note the breeders'
constraints and current difficulties, which are the most important point, as this kind of
awareness-raising event is not judged just by the quality of the specimens and the
number of participants (3).
