Smartpaws
in
Lockdown
Jackie Gardener tells us how her agility training business as
adapted over the last six months since lockdown was announced.
hese last few months have been
difficult for most people due to the
T Covid Pandemic, but as the owner
of SmartPaws Dog Agility Club, which had to
close, it was a very worrying time. I had no
income coming in, and I was really worried
that a prolonged lockdown would cause my
members to drift away from us.
I had 2 venues, one indoors that was completely
closed down, and one outdoors that I needed
to keep maintained. I also needed to keep our
members engaged and know that we were still
there for them. I contacted my local MP who
confirmed that as I could not work from home,
myself and my staff could attend the outdoor
venue to do the maintenance. We quickly
became experts at painting, mowing, pruning,
weeding, we did equipment repairs and we
made new equipment. We got the site Covid
compliant so that as soon as we got the green
light to start again, we’d be ready.
