Jasmyne
&
Bruce
Jasmyne and Bruce have
both been working hard over
the past couple months.
We’ve had ups and downs,
but ultimately the bond
between the two grows
stronger everyday.
Jasmyne has been taking
Bruce to Delta One Canines
for basic training, since the
beginning of June. Bob and
Gill have both been fantastic
with the pair. Bob, a retired
Police officer, spent the best
part of thirty years as a Police
dog handler and instructor.
He has competed in various
trials including Service Trials,
Working Trials and numerous
Obedience competitions.
He is a Full member of
the British Institute of
Professional Dog Trainers,
a life member of The Canine
Behaviour & Training Society.

list just some of his many
accomplishments. Bob was
definitely the man to help

Jasmyne & Bruce
On first arriving, Bruce spent most of his first session
barking at Bob. Jasmyne was very nervous and
was unsure what would be expected of the pair.
She listened carefully to Bob and the pair were set
the task of walking and turning right and sitting on
command when out. At home Bruce is fantastic at
sitting, but when out and about, his nerves would take
over and he was unable to sit straight away when
commanded. Jasmyne spent a lot of time walking him
on the green outside the house and he quickly picked
up what he needed to do.
The next week, Jas went to the session feeling a bit
more confident. As a result Bruce barked less and
followed the instructions from Jasmyne well. The pair
were able to progress to sit and stay. Again Jasmyne
took all advice on board and practiced everyday when
she walked Bruce.
When Jasmyne and Bruce went training next, Bruce
stopped barking after a few minutes and got on with
what he needed to do pretty much straight away.
Jasmyne was becoming more confident with each
session and this confidence was travelling down
the lead to Bruce. The pair seemed unstoppable for
the following session where we met Gill for the first
time. Jasmyne proudly showed Gill their progress of
being able to sit, stay and Jas step away from Bruce.
Bruce remained sitting until Jasmyne praised him and
commanded him to go again.
We had a blip the following session. Jasmyne had
missed a week and Bruce was very unsettled at
the training session. Jasmyne became frustrated
and wanted to give up. With some encouragement
she persevered and made great progress again
