REGIONAL COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON REPORT
SORORAL YEAR 2019
Y. E. S. Program Committee Cluster Evaluations Regional Chair: Anona Huntley
2019 Eastern Regional Cluster Meeting Evaluation Summary
The 2019-2020 sororal year began with the holding of the bi-annual cluster meetings. New
elected Eastern Regional Director Dr. Patsy Squire presided over her first cluster meetings
with grace and energy as she introduced her leadership goals and vision for her term as the
leader of the Eastern Region. She was accompanied by members of the Regional Executive
Committee as she traveled throughout the region, meeting and greeting Sorors and
spreading the message of her vision for the region for the next four years: increase
membership in the Eastern Region, increase visibility in our communities, and continuing
to create awareness on literacy issues.
Cluster meetings provide opportunities for chapters to meet in groups, based on location, to
collaborate, bond, share ideas, address concerns, learn more the the inner workings of the
sorority, and to get up close and personal with the Regional Director. It also provides
opportunities to give support to struggling chapters who often are not able to attend regional
conferences or Conclave.
The Cluster Schedule was as follows:
Cluster IV&V - August 23, 2019 Gamma Mu host Chesapeake, VA.
Cluster III - September 14, 2019 Rho host Wilmington, DE.
Cluster 1 September 21, 2019 Delta Pi host Newark, NJ
Cluster II September 28, 2019 Eta host Camden, NJ
Participants were requested to complete an electronic evaluation survey. The results, based
on submissions from attendees from all clusters indicated that the 2019 clusters were highly
rated receiving an 5 out of 5. The topics presented were suitable and informative as well as
the location, parking, and food served were good.
The newly instituted NSPDK, Inc. Cluster Interest meetings were held after each cluster
meeting to help increase membership in each cluster. Chapters in each cluster were
encouraged to invite prospective members by sending out flyers, notices on social media,
and invitations.
Recommendation:
The survey revealed that the Sorors who attended really enjoyed the cluster meetings and
felt that they were informative. They expressed the feeling that more time was needed on
social media training and technology training.
They really enjoyed the interest meeting but wanted more time devoted to that event. It is
hoped that something can be done to consider the distance between the chapter and the
cluster meeting location which might make it easier for some of them to invite prospective
members to attend.
Some comments suggested that having a guest speaker be considered in the future.
More comments enjoyed the period where chapters were asked to talk about how they
implement the YES program and what is making their chapters successful. Especially when
it pertains to recruiting youth for the Xinos and Kudos groups.
Respectfully,
Anona Huntley
