                       READING: (in the content areas, tutoring, mathematics, language, science, social

                Description of the Activity: Seven sorors and 2 Xinos participated in our Read Across America
                activity. We read Dr. Seuss books and led Dr. Seuss activities with youth (birth- 8 years) at the
                Baltimore County Public Library- Woodlawn Branch. For our Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
                of Service Soror Dr. Candice Washington and other members from Gamma Chapter met with
                the children (ranging in age 4 to 13 years of age) from the church to engage in a question and
                answer session on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. As an incentive, each child was given a book and
                a bookmark.

                Description of the Activity:

                PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:


               TEACH-A-RAMA: Number of Sorors: 20 Xinos: 1 Kudos: 0  Others: 28  Description of the
               Activity: Vital Issues Breakfast on Trauma Informed Care for Today's Youth. Guests consisted
               of the Baltimore Metro area educators, community and faith based leaders, parents and college
               students. Dr. Erika Wood, a school psychologist with Baltimore County Public Schools, who is
               also a member of Gamma chapter, addressed the topic of Trauma Informed Care and how
               trauma effects children social, emotional, physical and educational well being. Her presentation
               provided effective strategies and insights in helping children meet the challenges associated with
               trauma.
                       LEADERSHIP TRAINING: Number of Sorors: 25
                Description of the Activity: Gamma developed an Action Plan that provided a detail outline of
                the tasks required to accomplish the goal for the Sororal Year.

                       PUBLIC RELATIONS: Number of Sorors:
                Description of the Activity: The chapter purchased a table at the annual Baltimore City
                Teacher's Quest Conference. This provided the chapter the opportunity to introduce National
                Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. to other educators. The chapter distributed national and local
                information about the Sorority.

                COMMISSION ON CIVIL RIGHTS, EDUCATION AND LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS
                (ACADEMIC ISSUES AND CURRENT TRENDS) Number of Sorors: 20                       Others: 1
                Description of the Activity: The members of Gamma Chapter invited a representative of the
                Baltimore Education Coalition (BEC) to peak on the importance of advocacy and effective
                policies for Baltimore City Public Schools. Several of our members attended BEC meetings.
                The chapter will continue its efforts to grow and become more active in the area of advocacy
                and organizational change at the legislative level.
