              Description of the Activity: DATE: During the summer, a S.T.R.E.A.M Camp was held that
              encouraged youth to use science, technology, reading, art, and math strategies. Students were
              motivated by speakers, field trips, and kinesthetic activities. A trip to the public library ensured that
              every child was signed up for a library card. This camp was provided free to the participants.
                     AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY:   Number of Sorors: 14   Others: 1000 Description of
              the Activity: Programs that honored Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. were held in different venues all
              over the city. The Winston-Salem Chronicle, a weekly black publication, started the day with a
              breakfast at the Benton Convention Center (their 19th annual). At noon, we attended a
              commemoration at Union Baptist Church, where several of our sorors are members. The evening
              was capped by a program sponsored by the Ministers' Conference at St. Paul's United Methodist
              Church. At all events, sorors represented in their red and gold.

                     TECHNOLOGY/COMPUTERS:    Number of Sorors:    24    Number of Participants: 24
              Description of the Activity: Dr. Monica Newell, Eastern Regional Technology Chair, held a
              workshop introducing the "Zoom" App, using our ipads, laptops, and cell phones. During our
              monthly sororal meetings, we have a "tech moment" to keep sorors abreast of what is happening in
              the tech world, thus making us more tech savvy.
                     CHILDREN, ADULT & EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION, TOUCH -A-CHILD:
                     Number of Sorors: 10  Others: 125
              Description of the Activity: The Sorors of Beta Lambda sponsored a movie trip for our Xinos and
              Kudos to view "The Untold True Story of Harriet Tubman." After the movie, a discussion was held
              to share additional history and background information. Another learning experience we shared was
              attending and ushering at a play sponsored by the Black Repertory Company, "Black Nativity:
              According to the Gospels." In January, Beta Lambda Chapter sponsors Broadway Best, where
              Preschoolers - 12 graders showcase their talent. Cash prizes are awarded for Best in Categories. The
              theme for 2020 was "Winston-Salem Show Stoppers!"




              PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
              TEACH-A-RAMA:          Number of Sorors: 22
               Description of the Activity: A workshop on S.E.L. (Social and Emotional Learning) was
              presented by Dr. Patsy Squire to the sorors during our Summer Planning Retreat. Our sorors
              worked in groups, such as school counselors, administrators, Preschool - 3rd grade teachers, 4th -
              8th grade teachers, and high school teachers to demonstrate the implementation of S.E.L. in their
              schools and classrooms. The importance of teaching the "whole" child was emphasized. We also
              discussed the impact of trauma and stress on our children.
                     LEADERSHIP TRAINING:   Number of Sorors: 8   Other: 360
               Description of the Activity: Beta Lambda sorors attended the ER Y.E.S. Planning Meeting in
               February; the 79th Eastern Region Conference in April, where our Soror, Dr. Patsy Squire was
               elected Eastern Region Director; participated in our local Leadership Training and Summer Retreat
               in June; and then traveled to St. Louis for the 96th Conclave Anniversary in July. Our training
               concluded in August by attending the Cluster 4/5 meeting in Virginia Beach, VA. The information
               shared through presentations and workshops aided us in honing our skills and returning home better
               prepared than when we left.
                      PUBLIC RELATIONS:   Number of Sorors: 1
               Description of the Activity:  Beta Lambda attended a Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School
               Board Meeting to welcome our new Superintendent, Dr. Angela Pringle Hairston (our first African-
               American and the 2nd woman) to head our school district. We presented a gift basket to her, which
               included red and gold items, and we shared with her the mission and goals for the National Sorority
               of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc.
