Greetings Eastern Region Sorors!

Y.E.S.

The chapters of the Eastern Region have reported a wide variety of professional Literacy
activities this past year.

I would love to thank all the chapters that participated this year, especially those of you that
are working hard to implement the Eastern Regional Director's "Call to Action".

Throughout this sororal year, you have demonstrated your ability to identify, understand,
interpret, create, and communicate the love of education as you continue to inform and uplift
students and your communities. You have proven that Literacy is a very important part of our
Y.E.S program through your donation of books, meaningful activities, and professional
community workshops.

You have continued to honor our National Literacy Program - Read Across America on MLK
Day, the initiative instituted by our National Literacy Chair and National President. You have
stepped up to the “Pledge Challenge” to read.
The Literacy Luncheon continues to be one of the highlights of our conference. The host
chapter, each year, contributes 100% to making this annual event a wonderful and
enlightening time. The many different authors have shared their well-crafted pieces of work
for us to hear, read, and enjoy.

I want to extend my sincere gratitude to all the chapters that participated and sent in a
Literacy Activity Report. Please continue to lead the way NSPDK Style as we implement the
Eastern Regions "Call to Action".
