COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON REPORT
Sororal Year 2019
Y. E. S. Program Committee: Hub Parent Regional Chair: Soror Rose M. Robinson
Briefly describe and highlight exemplary programs reported by chapters of the region.
Summarize exemplary reports only and list the contributing chapters at the end of the report.
Alpha: The Hub Parents of Alpha Chapter gave a bus ride to Sands Casino to raise money to
cover the cost of transportation to the 2019 Youth Conference. Everyone had an enjoyable time.
We look forward to our 2020 bus ride to Wind Creek Casino to raise money for the transportation
to the 2020 Youth Conference.
Theta: During the Sororal year our Hub Parents are very busy. In October 2019 our Hub Parents
attended a College awareness Fair at First Baptist Church. They supervised the youth as they
engaged in activities that foster college preparation and understanding of the procedures for
college enrollment. In November 2019, our Hub Parents supported the Youth as they
volunteered during Theta Chapter's Annual Scholarship Luncheon as hostess/escorts for our
honorees and assisted in our Silent Auction by presenting gifts and charitable items to guests.
On Thanksgiving Day our Hub Parents volunteered with our Youth in Feeding the Elderly at
Boys & Girls H.S. in Brooklyn, NY. They helped to feed more than 100 people in the
community. During the month of December our Hub Parents celebrated Christmas with the
Youth by volunteering at the Help 1 Family Shelter Holiday Giving event in Brooklyn, NY.
They distribute presents to the families that live in the shelter and volunteer feeding the families
during the holiday event. Also, during the month of December the Hub Parents celebrated
Kwanzaa with the Youth at the Crown Heights Library in Brooklyn, NY. The Hub Parents also
participating in fund raising to support various Youth events.
Iota: Iota Chapter has one Hub Parent – Erica Oliver.
Xi: Xi Chapter Hub-parents meet each month on the 4th Sunday. Our discussions are centered
around what the plans going forward for the next month will be. Each parent present is given a
calendar update and is given the opportunity to discuss the events which may not be as clear as
they would like it to be. We want to make sure that our parents are kept informed and feel that
they are a vital part. Hub parents are a big support for us because they are willing to do whatever
is necessary to help their young person. They participated in two fundraiser's which was Dinners
and Catholic Raffles. They were there to support for Initiation and is actively preparing for our
upcoming fashion show.
Pi: The Hub Parents supported all the 2019 Xinos and Kudos Youth Activities both personally
and financially. They assisted in organizing the sign in sheets and workshop materials. They
met monthly to plan and implement fundraisers, Leadership Conferences and cultural trips to
New York City. The Hub Parents are a vital resource for the Xinos and Kudos of Pi Chapter.
