REGIONAL COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSON REPORT
Sororal Year 2019
Y. E. S. Program Committee: Youth Xinos/Kudos Report
Regional Chair: Soror Chaleeta N.Hines/Soror Felecia Laury
One exemplary program reported by chapters of the region. Hopefully your chapter may want
to try the activity.
Alpha Xinos/ Kudos: The Alpha Chapter Xinos, along with the support of Alpha Chapter
sorors, collected items for homeless women and stored them in gently used donated
pocketbooks for their Christmas community service. The Xinos packed toiletries and personal
items along with water and healthy snacks to put a smile on someone's face. The Alpha Xinos,
Kudos, Hub Parents, and advisors met up with Epsilon Alpha Xinos, Kudos, and advisors in
New York City on December 21, 2019, for lunch at Dallas BBQ''s as well as a brisk walk to
Rockefeller Center to see the magnificent Christmas tree. With their pocketbooks in hand, the
Xinos were challenged to pass those plentiful bags off to any woman in need during that day.
By the end of the night, all of their bags were given away to women in need.
Gamma: Xinos visited the Believe in Tomorrow Children’s House in Baltimore, MD three
times and facilitated arts & crafts sessions for the children who were staying in the house. The
Children’s House, houses children and their families as they battle pediatric cancer. Families
come from across the nation. Youth crafted ladybugs, butterflies and dream-catchers.
Zeta: Volunteered at the M. L. King Day of Service project sponsored by Global Citizen. After a
brief memorial service, the group joined the other volunteers assembling Peanut Butter and Jelly
Sandwiches packed in lunches for the homeless in Philadelphia.
Eta Xinos//Kudos: Participated in a Thanksgiving project of sorting and distributing basket
goodies to the needy families in their community.
Theta: During the Sororal year our Xinos are very busy. In October 2019 our Xinos
participated in a College awareness Fair at First Baptist Church. They were engaged in activities
that foster college preparation and understanding of the procedures for college enrollment. In
November 2019, our Xinos volunteered during Theta Chapter's Annual Scholarship Luncheon as
hostess for our honorees and assistants in our Silent Auction by presenting gifts and charitable
items to guests. On Thanksgiving Day our Xinos volunteered in Feeding the Elderly at Boys &
Girls H.S. in Brooklyn, NY. They helped to feed more then 100 people in the community.
During the month of December our Xinos celebrate Christmas by volunteering at the help 1
Family Shelter Holiday Giving event in Brooklyn, NY. They distribute presents to the families
that live in the shelter and fed families during the holiday event. Also, during the month of
December the Xinos celebrated Kwanzaa at the Crown Heights Library in Brooklyn, NY. The
program consists of discussion of the elements of Kwanzaa through a slide presentation, oral
presentations, and a Kwanzaa feast.
