Desktop and Task Bar Features

The desktop is the main screen area
that is used for opening and working on
applications, as well as the second
interface on Windows 10. Like the top
of an actual desk, it serves as a surface
for your work.

When you open programs or folders,
they appear as windows on the desktop.
You can put many icons on the
desktop, such programs, applications,
file and folder icons, and arrange them
however you want. Because program
windows run on top of the desktop, the

desktop itself is often partially or completely hidden.

The Task Bar is locate at the very bottom of the screen on the Windows desktop. It contains
buttons/icons for Windows and Programs that have been pinned there. By default, it shows Internet
Explorer and File Explorer icons and programs that are currently open. You can pin additional programs
to the Task Bar. The right section is called the Notification area and contains the Clock and other
buttons.

Tabs.

To open an application, 1) double-click on icon on desktop or single click icon on Task Bar, 2) from
Charms Bar, click Search and type application name, 3) click on tile from Start Screen.

To open a second application, open in same way as first; it becomes the active program in the front.

To return to previously opened application, click on the item on the Task Bar.

To switch between applications - use Alt+Tab keyboard shortcut OR use Switch Bar or click Task Bar
