Hats Off...
Hats Off to Carrousel Cheryl Jones for being selected as one of the top 25 leaders from around the world
to participate in the Global Leaders Program sponsored by Common Purpose and American Express. This
prestigious honor includes a trip to Mumbai, India for an in-person experiential exploration to develop agile and
creative ways to address problems in our world. Following the initial experience, this program will continue for
six months.
Carrousel Peggy Proctor and Carrafella Jim are proud of their granddaughter, Olivia Proctor, who will be
graduating from Harvard College with honors. Her thesis, “The Impact of the No-Knock Warrant on Targeted
Families in St. Louis,” consists of over one hundred pages. The Proctors are excited to be participating in the
graduation and can hardly wait to travel to Cambridge for the celebration.
Carrousel Karen Watkins and Carafella Garey celebrated their 55th anniversary on December 27th by
sharing an intimate dinner with their children, grandchildren, and in-laws. As exciting as 55 years of marital
bliss can be, life also continues to give them bragging rights about the accomplishments of their grandchildren.
Following a successful first year with Pepsico in Lynchbergh, Virginia, granddaughter Karen Joy Turley, was
promoted to senior human resource representative. Meanwhile, 12-year-old grandson, Gary Watkins III,
received a Presidential Award for his academic excellence as a sixth grade student. In his spare time, he enjoys
playing the violin, the piano, and basketball.
Carrousel Cheryl Young is extremely proud of her granddaughter Natejah, a junior at Dillard University, for
making the Dean's List three semesters in a row! Thinking it was a safe bet to promise to give her $100 per
A, Cheryl never imagined having to pay so much! Now she’s looking to take out a loan to cover her losses.
Knowing that being with our Carrousel sisters is always a special treat, Cheryl couldn’t miss the opportunity
to visit with some members of the New Orleans Chapter during her recent trip in April. She’s also enjoying the
blessing of celebrating her mother's 101st birthday.
