As we talk about China, we cannot ignore the great
accomplishments of Sun Yat-sen, the founding father of
the Republic of China.
Born in 1866 in Guangdong province, Sun Yat-sen was
a doctor, lawyer, and revolutionary leader. His medical
practice in Hong Kong exposed him to the social
differences. He organized a revolutionary organization and
rose against the Qing dynasty, with the goal of
establishing a democratic government. In spite of
numerous obstacles and failures, he persevered in his
attempts, and eventually, his efforts paid off.
Sun's story is one of the determination of a person
who desired to create a better China, and it continues to
inspire future generations.
