on gender issues and to increase their financial literacy, among others. The VSLA-CHILD
methodology integrates a child labour remediation component into the VSLA-GALS
approach and adopts participatory techniques in sensitising farmers on child labour issues.
The project was started in March 2023, and 25 VSLA groups have been formed after
community entry and sensitization. At APM Man, 8 EBD groups were formed in 4
communities and in APM Daloa, 6 EBD groups were formed in 4 communities. A total of 362
participants were trained using the EBD methodology.
50 representatives from the 25 VSLA groups were trained as GALS and child labour
champions from 17th July to 21st July at Man and Daloa. The groups are currently carrying
out their GALS and child labour trainings during their weekly meetings.
The VSLA and EBD groups were visited for monitoring between 22nd July to 29th July
to observe their meeting and record-keeping procedures, and also to encourage group
members to participate actively in the GALS training at the community level. For the EBD
groups, the monitoring visit was to get feedback from the training participants on the
training and understand why some group members absented themselves from the training.
Apart from the VSLA group in Montagne, all other VSLA groups and EBD Groups were
visited.
