       W: John, how are you?
       M: 1m stressed
          ’
       W: Why?
M: 1 have so much work to do and 1 don’t have time to do everything
W: What do you need to do?
M: This week, 1 have a sociology paper to write , two journal articles to read , and a physics test to prepare for
Also, my boss gave me double shifts this week at the restaurant, so 1 have no free time
W: Maybe you should quit your job
M: That's one option, but this job is really important to me. If 1 don't have a job, 1 can't pay my rent or tuition
W: Co 니 Idn ’t you get a loan to pay for your expenses?
M: 1 could , but 1 can’t imagine the accumulation of debt after a year of university. 1’d like to finish school without
          loans to pay back
W: Student loans are like an investment in your future. After university, you will be able to get a good job and
earn a lot of money. So, what are you going to do?
M: 111 probably skip a few classes this week to get caught up. It won’t be a big problem
          ’
W: OK. Just read your class syllabus carefully in case there is an attendance requirement in your class

M: This conversation is about the man’s busy schedule. He is very busy this week at school and at work. The
woman thinks that he should quit his job and focus on his school work because that is more important
She says that university is an investment. He needs a good education to get a good job and make money
in the future. The man isn’t sure. He thinks that he should skip some classes to finish all his assignments
Then he can keep his job and finish school without a debt. 1 think he should quit his job. A job at a restaurant
is not as important as school. Maybe he could borrow money from his parents to pay his tuition

W: Hi , Mark. I'm glad you could meet me. 1 was hoping that you could give me some advice. 1 know that your
maJα is finance. Since mine is sociology, maybe you can help me with a money problem
M: 111 do my best. What do you need?
          '
W: Well , I've recently been given some more shifts at work, so 1 have some extra money. 1ve been keeping
                                                                     ’
it in the bank, but 1 read in a journal that young people should invest their money. What do you think?
M: Well , there are both advantages and disadvantages to investments. It’s a really good way to save money
because it’s not in your account. Also, you can earn more money over time. It's usually more than the
accumulation of interest in your bank account.
W: Yes, but can 1 access it if 1 need the money immediately?
M: Some investments don’t allow you to take out your money early. They will charge a fee for that
       W: Oh , that’s not good
M: Also, you could lose money if you choose a risky investment
W: 1 never thought of that. My dad says investing will make me more responsible with my money. 1 guess 111
                                                                                ’
have to think about it. Thanks

W: 1 bought a new computer. It made me feel bad because 1 didn’t need to get a new computer. 1 did this
because my friend was talking about how great his new computer was
