M: Yes, 1 think it’s great. 1 think a games room will really improve life in our dorm. 1 can’t wait for it to be finished
W: Really? 1 don’t understand the justification for spending our money on a games room. We should be studying
at university, not playing around
M: Well, of course studying is important. But so is relaxing. Sometimes, 1 need a break from academics to
help me focus. Usually, 1 go somewhere else, but this will be better
W: Why?
M: Because 1 worγt waste my time going other places. If 1 need a study break 1 can come downstairs and
play a game of poc기 Then 1 can go back to studying feeling refreshed. Also, 1 will be able to spend my
free time with other students. Even if my friends are busy, 1 can go to the games room and meet new people
The people occupying the games room will be some of my classmates. 1 might make new friends or find
people 1 can study with. Hence, 1 think this will be beneficial for me as a person and a student
W: 1 guess you’ve got some good p이 nts. It does sound like fun

M: What is it about?
W: The dorm council is planning to renovate the dorm lounge
M: What are they planning?
W: They’re adding an entertainment unit and buying a new TV and DVD player
M: Don’t you think that will be beneficial to residents?
W: Absolutely not. There is no possible justification for this. The dorm lounge is a space for students to interact
and study. It is not meant for people to watch movies
M: Really? 1 would think that a TV would make more students go to the lounge and relax
W: That’s not really interacting. Yo니 can ’t meet new people and talk when there is a TV on. You can only watch
quietly
M: What do students do there now?
W: Well, 1 study there all the time. It’s usually a nice quiet place to go and find other students who want to
study. It’s great because 1 don't have to study alone in my room. Sometimes we can help each other with
our assignments. 1 don’t want a TV in the lounge
M: Maybe you should make your opposition known to the dorm advisor. You could write a letter to the dorm
council
