Agreeing on the agenda
Gabby: I noticed that the main topic for tomorrow’s meeting is time management.
Sharon: That is the main focus of the agenda. It’s relevant to our work routine.
Gabby: Shall we talk about accuracy of reports and time management?
Sharon: Exactly, they are all affecting our performance.
Gabby: I know that since time in memorial. We are tenured employees.
Sharon: We still need to discuss it. It’s important to be reminded of its significance.
Gabby: How can discussing the relevance of time management enhance our work?
Sharon: Guys, we might be too reluctant not to see the effects of not managing time.
Gabby: Well, I come into work on the dot.
Sharon: If a team member lacks time management skills, it affects our performance.
Gabby: If one of us did not manage his time, we would not be able to send the reports on time.
That’s what I always think of.
Sharon: That’s why we need to discuss it. Some of us do not realize its significance. Not all mem-
bers think the way you do.
Gabby: So, what do you suggest?
Sharon: I suggest for us to have consequences on every attendance issue. This means extra
tasks and it should be documented to make it official.
Gabby: I think, I’m getting the ball park figure. Come on, continue to walk me through.
Sharon: Everyone needs to be in at Least 15 minutes before the schedule. This will enable the
employee to prepare the tools for reports and avoid tardiness.
Gabby: What’s next? I’m starting to list down our agenda.
Sharon: Next will be the effective date of this directive. Can we start it by next week?
Gabby: You can count on me. I’ll help you discuss it, since we are working as a team.
Sharon: That was so nice of you Gabby.
Gabby: I admit. I might be overlooking on these details. I’ll make sure to keep an eye on them.
Sharon: Thanks! I’m sure you’ll convince them that this is critical to our type of work.
1. Who usually constructs an agenda?
Sample answer:
Normally, supervisors create the agenda based on the concerns and accomplishments
of the group. They weigh the severity of the issue and determine time constraints. The
opinions of the group members may also be taken into consideration.
