Julius: We included most of the team’s suggestions, but I feel that the proposal is not solid
enough.
Ernest: Are you concerned about the content or the structure? Maybe I can help you.
Julius: I’m concerned about the structure. The arrangement of ideas can be improved.
Ernest: You’re concerned about the readability of the proposal and the flow from one topic to
another.
Julius: Exactly, I’m not sure if I place the slides in an orderly manner. I don’t want them to be
clattered.
Ernest: Well, let me go over your draft.
Julius: Sure, I will appreciate any feedback.
Ernest: Don’t worry, you’ll end this systematically.
Julius: I read over the draft I made; the flow of ideas is not consistent and it looks very compli-
cated.
Ernest: We can construct an outline for the proposal and list all of the topics we want to cover.
Julius: That will be the guide for the proposal. It will help me ensure that the proposal has a
good flow.
Ernest: We can create the outline then read through your draft. Then we’ll know what to modify.
Julius: I’m sure we can create a proposal that is easy to understand. When can we start?
Ernest: We need to finish the draft as soon as possible, so we have time for revisions.
Julius: We don’t have much time before the deadline so we need to start as soon as possible.
1. What makes someone uncertain about presenting the proposal?

Someone might be uncertain about how the proposal flowed from one topic to an-
other. In creating a proposal, it is very important that you lead the reader into com-
plete and logical ideas.
2. Have you had the chance to create a proposal or had a proposal presented
