3. What seems to be the mindset of the players during a game?
Sample answer:
The players had different strategies and mindset in the game. The younger player is
steadily positioning the balls in preparation for the attack, at the same time issuing
challenges to the older player. The older player on the other hand was playing it cool,
holding back and most likely, observing the younger player’s strategy.
1. How, do you think, Jonathan and Michael were able to state their position
on the outcome of the game? Do you agree with Jonathan and Michaels’
opinion?
Sample answer:
Jonathan and Michael were able to determine their position in terms of the game’s
outcome by observing the way the players behaved. They took into consideration the
mindset of both players as well as both players’ strategies to be able to come up with
a logical assumption. When they noticed the younger player boldly issue an unspoken
challenge to the older player, they felt that the younger player has the confidence to
beat the older player. I don’t agree with their assumption. The older player, being more
experienced would defeat the rookie. The fact that the older player is merely observ-
ing the antics of the rookie is an indication that the older player is playing the game
intelligently by observing his opponent whereas the younger player is merely display-
ing his skills and using confidence and circus tactics to instill fear in his opponent.
2. Considering that both Michel and Jonathan took a stand and stated their
position on the outcome of the game, have you ever experienced having to
take a stand? It could be any situation, not just sports. How did you handle
it and how were you able to state your position?
Sample answer:
There are many times in our lives wherein we have to take a stand or state our posi-
tion. It could be as simple as a question of returning a wallet you found on the street
or as complicated as political matters. Before stating my position on any matter, I make
sure that I have all the facts so I can make an intelligent decision. A few months back,
my business partner and I were torn between increasing the price we demand for the
materials we supply for additional profit just like our competitors, or keeping the price
lower than our competitors but with the possibility of expanding our client base. We
had to consult financial advisers, create feasibility analysis reports, research on current
market trends, and predict possible upcoming trends.
