How do I know which colour to choose and whether it is achievable on
the client’s hair? Thanks to an international numbering system this is
made very easy. Always begin by determining the client’s natural colour,
earlier chapters have explained that Black hair, Indian Hair and Oriental
hair only have a natural base colour of off/black, known as colour number
1 in the international numbering system.

Caucasian’s have a natural colour range of 9 different colours. /1off/black
/3 darkest brown /4 brown /5 light brown /6 dark blonde /7 blonde /8 light
blonde /9 very light blonde /10 lightest blonde. The hair colour
manufacturers create a range of colours from mixing these basic shades
                   with seven different tones 0.1soft ash /1ash /2mauve /3golden /4copper
                   /5mahogany /6red.
