Speed of application is everything when pre-lightening the last thing you
                   want is that the hair where you first applied the bleach to is white before
                   you have finished applying bleach to the whole head.  It is recommended
                   that you mix the bleach yoghurt like in consistency and apply with a
                   sponge a few millimetres from the scalp.

                   Use 30 volume peroxide and powder bleach on off/black to achieve base
                   shades 7 to 10.  Use 20 volume peroxide and powder bleach to achieve
                   bases from off/black up to 6, and in the case of lifting the off/black just
                   one shade then dilutes the 20 volume peroxide with equal amounts of
                   warm water making a 10 volume peroxide and powder bleach mix.

                   Starting with a natural base shade off/black and bleaching up to base
                   shade 8 is usually for the purpose of pre-lightening the hair to apply a hair
                   dye. (Fig 53.)
