P. 48

This happens with light all around us if you look at the picture Fig 48 you
will notice where the light is absorbed by the green leaves, it blocks the
light from penetrating deeper into the tree leaving areas in shadow.
                   (Fig 48.)

The areas picked out by the arrows are actually
green. However, because the light is shut off
them by the overhanging leaves above, they
                                                                       reflect as black

Knowing what we know about Keratinisation why is it not necessary to
bleach the middle lengths and ends when we do highlights?

Assuming you are using the weaving technique to select the strands to be
coloured and you are placing them in either tin foil or Visi-Color when
you apply the bleach to the root, you will paint the bleach 3mm or so
from the top of the foil or Visi-Color package.

The package itself is another 3mm from the actual scalp so in fact you are

placing bleach 6mm from the scalp. The bleach is now drawn up the hair
by capillary action, rather like milk up a straw. All the way to the scalp,
this takes a little time so both roots and the middle lengths and ends are
the same colour after the full development time. (Fig 49.)
