Wood Dash Restoration with New Wood – submitted by Rich Weiss

REMOVE WOOD DASHBOARD:
I will not go into this part of the process since there are so many variables between models!
REMOVE EXISTING VENEER:
Depending how damaged the existing wood dash is will depend on the work needed. The veneer was splitting and the finish
was starting to peel. Smooth bladed (not seriated) kitchen knives worked good for me to get under the veneer to peel it off.
A small one in some areas and a medium one in others. A large butcher knife is too unruly and dangerous! All but about
15% of the veneer came off very easily. Don’t forget to remove the veneer from the inside face of the glove box door, but
first carefully remove the metal tire spec plate so it can be reapplied after finishing.
