I am pleased to extend my warm greetings and well wishes to all participants of the
29 General Conference of The World Fellowship of Buddhists (The WFB), the 20 General

Conference of the World Fellowship of Buddhist Youth (WFBY), and the 11 Meeting of the
World Buddhist University (WBU) Council being held in Narita and Yokohama City, Japan
hosted by Japan Buddhist Federation (JBF) during 5-9 November B.E. 2561 (2018).

At present the world has encountered many crisis caused by both human and natural
disasters which keep getting more seriously by the passing days. Buddhism has become the
spiritual enlightenment, purification of the soul, and a call for compassion and harmony. We,
Buddhist, cannot just sit and pray for help to make the world better. Thus, the conference theme
of “Compassion in Action: Creating Hope and Life in Death” is certainly enabling us a good
chance to discuss and find a practical way to help all living beings. For many years, WFBY has
vigorously performed humanitarian assistance activities in many countries by applying teaching
of Buddha into practice and we will keep doing it for the years to come.

On behalf of the WFBY, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Japan
Buddhist Federation (JBF) for putting their great efforts to make this gathering possible. We
hope that all delegates, observers, and visiting guests will fully utilize this opportunity to learn
as well as enjoy your kind hospitality during their stay in Japan.

May the Noble Triple Gems bless all participants with strength, happiness and wisdom.
