PRIME MINISTER

                                 MESSAGE FROM THE PRIME MINISTER

                               THE WORLD FELLOWSHIP OF BUDDHISTS
                                       GENERAL CONFERENCE 2018

I send my warmest wishes to everyone attending The World Fellowship of Buddhists
               General Conference in Tokyo, Japan.

Every two years, this joyful gathering is a time of renewal and re-dedication, a chance to
contemplate Buddha’s teachings amid fellow adherents of the faith.

It is also an occasion to consider how the diverse and dedicated work of Buddhists
contributes to building a more caring and peaceful world.

Australians, at large, seek the same goal. In Australia, we are fortunate to live in a land
of peace and goodwill, where people from around the globe, and from all walks of life,
               live together in remarkable harmony.

This is reflected in our values; we believe in equal opportunity and a fair and
compassionate society irrespective of race, religion or ethnic background.

I know everyone in attendance will appreciate the chance to work towards a better future
through “Compassion in Action: Creating Hope and Life in Death”.

May you be uplifted and inspired through sharing in this timely and important conference.

               The Hon Scott Morrison MP
               Prime Minister of Australia
               5 November 2018
