IN - 32 Introduction - Cleaning regulations
The pneumatic sealing gasket scraper can save time, but it must be used with care to avoid any surface
damage. The angular part must be opposite to the surface of sealing gasket, so as to prevent the knife from
cutting its surface. The skills and care shall be required for using the pneumatic sealing gasket scraper on soft
part, so as to avoid damages.
Try to avoid scraping or wiping the whole surface of sealing gasket.
4. Solvent and acid cleaning
Several solvents or acidic detergent can be applied to clean the disassembled engine parts (except piston, see
below). According to the experiences, if the detergent can be heated up to 90-95℃, it can get the best cleaning
effect. The kerosene emulsion detergent has different technical temperature specifications, and see below. The
cleaning cabinet capable of mixing and filtrating the cleaning solution continually can reach the best cleaning
effect. It’s not recommended to apply special detergent. Just apply the cleaning solution as per the instructions
of its manufacturer. Before putting the parts into the cleaning box, must remove all the seal materal, O-ring
and accumulated grease and carbon deposit on the parts. Do not damage any gasket surface. If possible, clean
them via steam before putting the part into the cleaning cabinet.
Warning
In case of applying the solvent, acidic or alkaline substances for cleaning, follow the operating methods
recommended by the manufacturers. Wear the safety glasses and protective clothes to avoid personal
injury.
The experiences indicate that it can achieve the best effect to clean the piston with kerosene emulsion
detergent. Such detergent shall not be heated over 77℃. Such solution begins to resolve at the temperature of
over 82℃, and its effects will be weakened.
Don’t apply the solution mainly consisting of chlorinated hydrocarbon and cresol, phenol and/or
creosote. During the removal of deposits out of ring groove, their effects aren’t commonly obvious, and their
correct handling costs are higher.
The solution with its pH value over 9.5 will make the aluminium black, so the concentrated alkali solution
shall not be applied.
The substance with its pH value over 7.0 shall be considered as alkali substance, and the one with its pH value
below 7.0 shall be considered as acidic substance. The higher the difference between pH value and neutral
value 7.0 is, the stronger its alkalinity or acidity is.
Before putting the parts into the cleaning box, must remove all the seal material, O-ring and accumulated
grease and carbon deposit on the parts Do not damage any gasket surface. If possible, clean them first with hot
pressurized water or steam before putting the part into a cleaning cabinet. Before putting it into the cleaning
cabinet, remove the thickest dirt layer to make the detergent more effective, and the detergent can function for
a longer time.
Flush all the parts with hot water after cleaning them. Dry the parts thoroughly with compressed air. Blow off
all the moisture from all the bolt holes and oil ducts.
If the parts can’t be immediately used, soak them with some appropriate rust inhibitor. The rust inhibitor must
be removed from the parts before assembling or installing them into the engine.
5. Steam cleaning
Steam cleaning can remove all the types of dirt, which can contaminate the cleaning cabinet. This is a good
method to cleaning the oil duct and cooling fluid duct.
Warning
In case of using the steam cleaner, wear the safety glasses or breathing mask and protective clothes. Hot
steam may cause serious personal injury.
The following parts can’t be cleaned via steam:
