Introduction-How to Troubleshoot the Vehicle
Inspection Procedures for Circuits
1. Basic inspection
(a) Resistance measurement conditions for electric components
• All resistance measurement operations are made under an ambient temperature of 20℃,
unless specifically stated otherwise.
• High temperature will be produced when your vehicle is running, so resistances
measured under such a temperature may exceed the specified range. Therefore,
resistance measurement must be made when your engine is cold.
(b) Precautions for connector operations
• To remove a connector with latch,
squeeze the connector slightly
along its junction direction and
then depress its hasp gently to
open the latch.
• When removing a connector, be
sure to hold it instead of its
harness. 01
• When connecting a connector, be
sure to check it for deformation,
damage, or missing pin.
• When connecting a connector with
latch, a “clatter” must be heard to
ensure firm connection.
• When checking a connector using
special tester, be sure to check on
back (harness side) of the
connector with a microprobe.
Notices:
• A waterproof connector can not be
checked from its back, so please do the
job after connecting an auxiliary
harness.
• Be careful when moving the probe.
Never damage any connector pin.
(c) Key points for connector inspection
• Check during connector
connection: Hold the connector
and check its insertion and locking
Loose curling
(i.e. junction).
• Check during connector disconnection:
Pull the harness gently to check for
Wire core
missing pin, bended pin, and broken
center harness.
Bended pin
Visually check the connector for rust,
entrained metal scraps, water entry and
Pull lightly bended or rusty pin, entrained foreign
materials or deformation.
Notice:
When inspecting a gold-plated female plug, a
gold-plated male plug must be used.
