Front axle-steering knuckle
(d) Using dial indicator, remeasure steering knuckle to fore axle clearance. Clearances (with
adjusting washer): ≤ 0.1 mm
17. Installing right steering knuckle
Tip:
Follow the same installation steps for left steering knuckle to install right steering knuckle.
18. Installing left knuckle pin
(a) Using hammer and copper bar, lightly tap left
knuckle pin to insert it into left steering knuckle
bushing.
• Grease left knuckle pin.
Grease: 2# lithium base grease
• Be sure to align the key groove on left
knuckle pin with the latch hole.
(b) Check left steering knuckle for smart rotation.
19. Installing right knuckle pin
Tip: 24
Follow the same installation steps for left knuckle pin to install right knuckle pin.
20. Installing left steering knuckle latch
(a) Using hammer and copper bar, lightly tap latch
axially until it is seated in place completely.
Notice:
Be sure to replace with a new latch.
(b) Tighten the nut.
Torques:
Vehicle model Torque
1051 series 25~40 N•m
1061 series 25~40 N•m
1089 series 50~70 N•m
(c) Using spring balance, measure starting force of
steering knuckle at the split pin hole on knuckle
journal.
Starting force: 10~60 N
