anywhere collaborative learning. The importance of technology in education calls for multimedia

               approach which requires authentic and up to date information with access to online libraries,


               teaching of different subjects made interesting with the existence of educational data storage.

               The need and importance of technology in education opens an access to the source of


               information with multiple communication channels such as e-mail, chat, forum and blogs which

               gives access to open courseware. It provides access to students with disability and reduces time


               on many routine tasks.

                                                       Methodology



                        In the process of gathering data, the researcher administered survey to a combination of

               100 selected students and faculty from different institutions. The choice of surveying both

               students and faculty was informed by the theme of the paper which is harnessing technology as a


               Segway to supporting knowledge construction in colleges and universities. Simple open ended


               questions were administered on the selected respondents for their opinion on the theme of the

               paper. The researcher also interviewed some selected sample of the respondents which provided

               them with the latitude to express their views as to how the role of technology has either helped


               them process their academic engagements as students or faculty or deterred them. Some of the

               faculty in the group who were interviewed indicated that technology has played a great role in


               both their preparation of classes, delivery and measuring learning outcomes.


                                               Data Collection and Analysis



                       The questions administered by the researcher to the respondents were collected after the


               survey were completed based on the identified questions which fits into the theme of the

               research. Participants were asked several questions based on the theme of the study which
