          SPSY 505 COUNSELING CHILDREN IN THE SCHOOL SETTING
          Prerequisites: None
          Credits: 3
          This course provides candidates with the knowledge needed to understand
          the range and theory of counseling methods as they apply to school-based
          therapeutic interventions with children and adolescents. Candidates will
          also explore current research on empirically supported counseling
          practices for child and adolescent concerns and develop an understanding
          of how to best apply those practices in school settings. In addition,
          candidates will analyze legal and ethical implications and examine how
          issues of diversity impact counseling for children and adolescents.

          SPSY 507 SCHOOL ASSESSMENT I
          Prerequisites: None
          Credits: 3
          This course examines basic and advanced concepts and theories of
          psychological testing with an emphasis on cognitive assessment.  Topics focus
          on issues such as:  test development, test administration, scoring,
          interpretation and report writing. Candidates will learn about some of the
          commonly used tests in the field.  Candidates will learn about basic statistics,
          technical aspects of an instrument, multicultural considerations and the
          significance of carefully considering prevention and early intervention
          processes. Finally, this course will provide candidates with pertinent
          information regarding legal and ethical issues to consider when engaging in
          assessment. This course is only open to School Psychology majors. Special
          permission to enroll in this course is required for other students.

          SPSY 509 RESEARCH METHODS AND STATISTICS
          Prerequisites: None
          Credits: 3
          This course provides candidates with the knowledge needed to understand the
          theory, techniques, and methods of designing research in applied educational
          settings. Candidates will learn to evaluate and apply research as a foundation for
          service delivery and collaborate with others in the research process (data
          collection, measurement, analysis, and evaluation) using various techniques and
          technology resources.  The  focus will be on the selection, formulation, and
          execution of research/ program evaluation projects and the interpretation of the
          data from these projects. A special emphasis will be placed on the design and
