                                                                            Orientation Handbook and Research Guide

Policies and Procedures of Graduate School

The Graduate Catalog and Class Schedule contain official guidelines on policies and procedures
for the HRD program at BSU. Refer to it when you have questions or concerns. However, here are
some helpful guidelines to help you find your way and to get you started.

                Registration
The Class Schedule catalog for each semester provides directions on how to register for classes.

Registration takes place in a variety of ways:

                    • Online through Bulldog Connection (preferred method of Registration) – You will
need your user ID and password
                    • In person at the Office of the Registrar
                    • Mail in your registration to the Office of the Registrar

Follow the directions provided in the catalog for that semester. Directions are also provided in the
Forms Appendix. The catalog also provides directions for adjusting your schedule after
                registration and for add/dropping courses.

                Parking Permits
You will need a parking permit to park on campus. You can obtain a permit from The Security
and Safety Office (Former McKeldin Gym) or in Robinson Hall (301) 860-4040. Your parking tag
must be displayed whenever you are on campus and you must park only in designated parking
areas according to your student status or you will be fined if you do not have a parking permit.

                BowieCard
All students are required to have a BowieCard, which is your student identification card. You will
need this card for a variety of purposes including checking out resources from the library or
computer technology lab and for accessing the online research portal. The fee for the BowieCard
is covered under your registration fees and can be obtained from the BowieCard Office in room
                1025 of the Student Centre.

                Withdrawals

The Class Schedule catalog for each semester provides directions on how to withdrawal from a
class(es). Pay close attention to deadlines and follow directions carefully.
