                      •  TOEFL: If the applicant's native language is not English, they must provide evidence of
                         English language proficiency by taking the Test of English as a Foreign  Language
                         (TOEFL) examination. An official record of the TOEFL with a minimum score of 550
                         (213 for the computer-based test) and Test of Written English (TWE) with a minimum
                         score of 4.0 must be sent directly from the Educational Testing Service to Bowie State
                         University. The scores must be less than two years old. TOEFL scores must be submitted
                         by all international students, except the following:

                          •  Non-native speakers of English who have graduated or transferred from secondary
                              and postsecondary institutions in English-speaking  countries, provided they  have
                              spent a minimum of two years there, have successfully completed 18 credits, and the
                              language of instruction was English; or

                          •  Students from countries where English is the language of instruction in the
                              educational system.

                 3.  Submit applicable test scores for the program of interest.

                      •  Early provisions should be made by the applicant for taking the test so that the official test
                         results may be sent to Bowie State University on or before the admission deadlines.

                 4.  Submit sufficient documentary evidence that the applicant will be financially supported
                     throughout his/her studies in the United States. All such documentary  evidence  must be
                     notarized and sent to the Office of Graduate Admissions. The following are acceptable
                     sources and required documentation of funds:

                      •  Personal: Current letter from applicant verifying the amount of applicant's funds in U.S.
                         dollars and the date the bank account was opened. The letter must be on official bank
                         letterhead and addressed to Bowie State University.

                      •  Parent, spouse, or sponsor in the United States:

                          •  A notarized Affidavit of Support I-134 form, and;

                          •  A letter  from the parent's, spouse's, or sponsor's bank, verifying the amount of
                              applicant's funds in U.S. dollars and the date the bank account was opened. The letter
                              must be on official bank letterhead and addressed to Bowie State University. The
                              Financial Guarantee must be co-signed by an authorized bank or representative of a
                              recognized sponsoring agency. All bank statements must be dated within the last six
                              months. The Affidavit of Support cannot be used in lieu of a bank statement.

                      •  Parent, spouse, or sponsor outside the United States:

                          •  A notarized letter addressed to Bowie State University from the individual(s) in
                              English indicating the relationship and the amount of money that will be made
                              available in U.S. dollars and;
