Throwing
T-position
Step and throw
"Yes" position with the non-dominant hand
Weight transfer-back foot to front foot
Rotate hips as part of throwing motion
The elbow leads the throwing hand
Sample Activity
Use any ball that can be easily held (tennis ball, baseball, softball, etc.), throw to a wall with
velocity working on throwing mechanics
Focus on weight transfer, T-position, Yes-position, upper body rotation
Self-toss hit a volleyball over the net without jump
T-position, relaxed shoulder
Focus on the hand goes over the top of the ball
Generate topspin on the ball
Low elbow to high elbow arm action
Checklist
Can attack the ball over the net while exhibiting
proper throwing and armswing mechanics with
emphasis on T-position and upper body rotation
into the swing
Contacts the ball when spiking with an open
hand, relaxed wrist, drives the hand over the top
of the ball, imparting topspin
Maintains proper armswing mechanics when
jumping to spike the ball
